Culture Builders Cooperative

Belonging, Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Training and More

At Culture Builders Coop (CBC), our primary focus is on uplifting marginalized communities, empowering stakeholders, and driving meaningful change within organizations and outcomes, particularly for individuals of Black and brown descent. Our comprehensive range of services encompasses the delivery of Belonging, Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity (BEID) training, guiding non-profit leaders through strategic planning and succession processes, mentoring grassroots leaders, and facilitating communities of practice. CBC is deeply committed to fostering sustainable infrastructure for racial justice and actively contributing to long-term movement building.

Our Approach

Our approach centers on relationships, process, and ultimately, results that change hearts, minds, and behaviors.

To facilitate this transformative work, our process includes a cultural assessment, crafting customized solutions, programming, and intervention, and an evaluation of our work to ensure that organizations have what they need to grow from where they are to where they want to be.

For every project, we pair a Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) and white anti-racism educator, which serves to diversify perspectives, analysis, and facilitation styles, as well as add a level of safety and trust for stakeholders when discussing issues of race, racism, and trauma.

Working Principles

We work to address race and racism within the United States of America, and we lead with race because doing so facilitates addressing all oppression most effectively.

By focusing on systemic change and framing the work around building a historical and institutional understanding, we reduce individual anxiety, blame, and guilt to establish trust, safety, and community.

Learning about race, racism, and how to address it is not symmetrical between white and BIPOC participants; we ask white participants to lean into their confidence and competence and take responsibility for their own learning about white privilege.
